Flex Seal To Fix Awning

Since the problem area was on the very top of the awning that is exposed to the sun light i was able to successfully make the repairs using flex seal.

When it is sprayed it forms a thick seal which immediately coats the surface you re spraying. I applied a strip to the underside and top of the awning along the threaded bead seam. After the flex seal dried it was no longer sticky tacky. The cleaner the surface the better the repair tape will stick.

Then there is seal o flex. I consider this repair a temporary fix until i can replace the awing fabric later in the year. The convenient aerosol spray allows for the easy application of flex seal with no brushes or rollers required. It can be a bit messy.

Then i wiped the areas where the tape would go with 70 isopropyl alcohol to remove any remaining dirt and oils. Flex seal flex tape and all of our products. However be careful with the overspray. The sealant will fill the crack as it dries and plug the leak.

Wash the leaking area and after it dries apply a line of polyether sealant to cracks or gaps in the awning. Full selection including hard to find items merchandise accessories and more. Flex seal liquid rubber sealant seeps into cracks and holes to cover out air and moisture. Use a sealant that is uv resistant exterior grade and designed for seams and metal.
