Leveling compound is the classic and the easiest to fix a floor that is uneven. You can purchase concrete leveling compounds at home improvement retailers to level out the floor. For garages it is a little less simple. You can repair a concrete floor by cleaning and straightening the damaged area and then filling it with mortar.

You have a few options. Grind the floor use a self leveling compound or use a subfloor to get it pretty close to even as possible. Self leveling compound is similar to concrete typically coming in large bags in powder form. This compound can potentially be utilized on a concrete slab or a wood subfloor and it works well when you are dealing with dips in the floor.

An even concrete slab is very important if you plan to build anything on your slab or lay down any type of outdoor tile. You need more planning that you may expect. An uneven concrete floor can be unsightly as well as unsafe. Filling in gaps cracks and crevices as well as leveling uneven concrete will bring up the aesthetic and shore up the structure of the flooring.

Start by taking a hammer and chisel and tapping any rounded edges around the crack or hole to make them straight which will help the mortar stick better.
